Special Edition for the Anniversary

The S.A.R. Mission-Timer "160 Years DGzRS"

In 2025, the sea rescuers of the North and Baltic Seas celebrate a major milestone: 160 years of the DGzRS and 150 years of the iconic Sammelschiffchen. To mark the occasion, Mühle-Glashütte is honoring them with a special limited edition of the S.A.R. Mission-Timer — just 160 pieces worldwide. A timepiece that blends technical excellence with maritime heritage.

One Watch, Two Big Anniversaries — and a Powerful Message:  Since 1865, the sea rescuers of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) have been saving lives in the North and Baltic Seas — independently, voluntarily, and often under extreme conditions. Over the past 160 years, they’ve rescued more than 87,000 people from danger at sea.

Almost as long-standing is the Sammelschiffchen, the iconic little donation ship that’s been part of the DGzRS since 1875. It stands as both a symbol and a vital source of funding — and to this day, it remains a familiar sight across Germany, representing the spirit of the sea rescuers.

Symbolism in Every Detail

The dial of this anniversary edition makes one thing clear at first glance: this watch is about more than just telling time. Finished in an elegant titanium gray, it features a fine line pattern — a detailed rendering of the North Sea’s underwater topography near Bremerhaven. A subtle yet striking design element that combines maritime precision with a strong regional connection.

Another standout feature is the caseback: it’s engraved with the iconic Sammelschiffchen, along with the anniversary inscription: “150 Years Sammelschiffchen, 160 Years DGzRS – The Sea Rescuers.” Each watch also bears its own unique limited-edition number — making it a true collector’s piece for anyone with a special connection to the sea or the mission of the DGzRS.

Built for the Job

Like every model in the S.A.R. family, this special edition was made for real-world use. Its 43 mm case is crafted from ultra-light, skin-friendly titanium and weighs in at just around 105 grams. A black, scratch-resistant ceramic bezel protects the 2.5 mm-thick, double anti-reflective sapphire crystal — giving you a clear view of the distinctive dial underneath.

Inside, the watch delivers rock-solid performance thanks to the reliable SW 400-1 automatic movement in the Mühle version. It features the brand’s shock-resistant woodpecker neck regulation and the efficient Mühle rotor. Each movement is carefully regulated in six positions and tuned to an impressive rate of 0 to +8 seconds per day. One more highlight: the extra-large date display — easy to read at a glance, no magnifier needed.

Function Meets Luminosity

Bold hour markers and signature triangle indices make the dial easy to read — day or night. Coated in Super-LumiNova in three distinct colors, the indices appear white in daylight, glow blue in the dark, and reveal a striking red hue under UV light. Whether you’re on board, on land, or underwater, this watch has your back in any situation.

With the S.A.R. Mission-Timer “160 Years DGzRS,” Mühle-Glashütte proudly honors commitment and courage. As a long-standing partner of the DGzRS, the family-run company is passionate about supporting the work of the sea rescuers — with a timepiece that’s every bit as precise, rugged, and reliable as the people it’s dedicated to.
