Automotive Time Travel 2026

Join us to kick off the classic car season

While we were still manufacturing dashboard clocks for well-known car and motorcycle manufacturers in the 1920s, today you’re more likely to find a Mühle watch on the wrist of people who drive and preserve these classics: the Teutonia Sport is the best example of this.

What connects us at Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte to the world of automobile rallies? A long tradition. In the first half of the 20th century, our family-owned company manufactured not only precision measuring instruments but also speedometers and car clocks—technical instruments that were indispensable in many vehicles.

For us, that’s reason enough to once again support five renowned classic car rallies as an official partner in 2026. The winning team of each rally will receive two Teutonia Sport II watches in Racing Green. In doing so, we’re not only honoring the best driver and co-driver—but also classic car enthusiasts who, like us, share a passion for sports and precision.

The Teutonia Sport II in Racing Green

In sporty watch models like the Teutonia Sport, our connection to automotive engineering lives on to this day. In Racing Green, it not only shares the sporty design and signature color of British classic cars—it also enhances these qualities with the nautical virtues of reliability, precision, and excellent readability.

The high-quality case of the Teutonia Sport II is the best example of this: It is water-resistant to 10 bar and protects not only the precise movement of the automatic watch but also its lovingly designed dial.

A long history

The Glashütte Mühle Speedometer

Starting in 1920, R. Mühle & Sohn began supplying famous automobile brands with car clocks, speedometers, and tachometers. The expansion of production was driven primarily by Paul, Alfred, and Max Mühle—the second generation of our Glashütte-based family business. The expansion of instrument production came about because R. Mühle & Sohn also supplied the young automobile manufacturers in Zwickau, Saxony, with dial gauges. The first request to develop a speedometer came from Horch. Gradually, other manufacturers joined the list—Elite-Werke in Brand-Erbisdorf and DKW in Zschopau, for example. Among the motorcycles equipped with Mühle speedometers are Wanderer in Chemnitz, BMW, D-Rad, Triumph, A.J.S., and many more…
