Blue rubber strap & titanium folding clasp

Nautical update for the Seebataillon GMT

This year the Seebataillon GMT celebrates its 10th birthday. Matching this, we surprise watch fans with a blue color variant of the tried-and-tested Mühle rubber strap and a new titanium folding clasp. Both strap versions of the robust Mühle watch have been equipped with the latter as standard since May 1, 2023.

In April 2013, the Seebataillon GMT was presented. It had been developed for a year with the German Navy unit of the same name and coordinated in every detail with the battalion leadership: from the bidirectional rotating countdown bezel to the GMT dial with the battalion colors blue and gold. Our nautical watch case was specially modified for the Seebataillon GMT and made of light titanium. The bracelet and folding clasp, on the other hand, have been tried and tested: because the Seebataillon GMT is worn on a black Mühle rubber strap, which has been fitted with the corresponding stainless steel folding clasp. The Seebataillon GMT was not only popular with the soldiers of the naval unit, but also with watch fans worldwide.

The blue rubber strap

Like our previous rubber straps in black and red, the blue strap is also specially made for us. We work together with a European manufacturer who can produce the strap in the best quality from high-quality rubber. The lettering “Nautische Instrumente” can still be read near the lug on one half of the volume, while the other half adds “Mühle-Glashütte”. The filigree capital letters of the lettering are not printed, but worked out of the strap material and executed in a raised manner – i.e. they are already made in the strap form during the production of the strap.

The new titanium folding clasp

The titanium folding clasp is the spitting image of its stainless steel sister. It is opened by pressing in the side safety button – and for wearing the watch over a diving suit, it has a diving extension that can be easily folded out.

In contrast to the stainless steel clasp, the guides for attaching the strap now have a second hole for fine adjustment of the strap length. In addition, the titanium folding clasp impresses with its significantly reduced weight: Because it is around a third or 13 g lighter than the stainless steel folding clasp. The Seebataillon GMT thus weighed 132.5 g, with the new titanium clasp it is 120 g.

Last but not least, the new folding clasp scores with its anti-allergic properties. Titanium and its alloys are an excellent alternative for people who value a nickel-free watch. The case and clasp made of titanium are free of nickel and also have a protective oxide layer that does not allow any reaction with the skin.
